Canada's 50 Best Managed Companies
Farrow is proud to be a “Best Managed Winner” in the 2009 awards for Canada’s 50 Best Managed Companies.
As one of the 50 new winners selected for the year, Farrow’s achievement was announced in the February 16, 2010 edition of The National Post.
The award recognizes Farrow’s performance in areas such as sustainable growth, job creation and successful expansion in the international marketplace. It also acknowledges the value that our clients, our employees and all of our stakeholders gain from our stable yet progressive and growth-oriented business practices.
About the Awards
Since its inauguration in 1993, Canada’s 50 Best Managed Companies has honoured exemplary management practices in Canadian companies that have annual revenues in excess of $10 million. Hundreds of the country’s top organizations are appraised each year to determine those that offer the most innovative and successful management processes.
Awards Process and Criteria
Each candidate organization actively participates in a vigorous and valuable assessment process, including coaching with experts at Deloitte and CIBC. Fifty companies are selected as winners each year by a panel of independent judges based on factors such as the ability to adapt and grow in challenging markets, innovations in processes and technologies, corporate culture and solid financials.
Participants in Canada’s 50 Best Managed Companies must be Canadian-owned and managed organizations. They are evaluated based on a range of criteria including:
- Business performance
- Sustained growth
- Ability to focus on corporate vision, strategy and core competencies
- Client and employee relations
- Company-wide culture and contribution
- Financial performance
There are three award levels that can be progressively achieved as one of Canada’s 50 Best Managed Companies. The first is to become a “Best Managed Winner”. Once this has been achieved, winners can become Requalified Members and extend their designation for two years, pending an annual review process. For Requalified Members who maintain their standing for six consecutive years, Platinum Club status is awarded.

From the C.E.O.
It gives us great pleasure to advise that Farrow has been selected one of Canada's 50 Best Managed Companies for 2009.
Our employees, as well as our valued clients, can take great pride in having helped us achieve this prestigious award.
"There are a number of reasons for this award, but chief among them is our adherence to core values and principles, our long tenured and knowledgeable employees, our success in integrating acquisitions, and our investment in technology." said Chairman and C.E.O. Richard Farrow, who along with brother John, continue the tradition of family ownership and involvement.
"My brother and I take great pride in having achieved the Best Managed award" continued Richard Farrow. "This validates the efforts of our employees, and our management team over the years. We plan to use this as an opportunity to tell our story – how we're proud of our heritage and the fact that we remain a "family run" business celebrating our 100th Anniversary in 2011. It is an honour and a privilege to lead our company through its third generation of Farrow family leadership. Being a privately held company has allowed us to maintain a high level of personalized service – a factor that continues to prove important in securing new business."
"It takes a company focused on values, a strong business plan, and most of all hard work, to succeed in today's market place" said Calvin Younger, Senior Vice-President, CIBC Commercial Banking. "Companies winning this year's Canada's 50 Best Managed Companies exemplify these traits."
