Community Involvement

A Corporate Spirit of Volunteerism and Philanthropy
As part of our commitment to the communities in which we live and work, Farrow Group regularly supports a broad range of community projects through donations, sponsorships, and employee volunteer activities.

We have been a major supporter of Habitat for Humanity, including sponsoring several home builds, and we have run annual United Way campaigns for over fifteen years. We place a priority on supporting donation requests that directly involve our employees, approving both time off and sponsorship requests for programs in health, education, social services, youth, culture, sports and recreation, the arts, and the environment.

We are always on the lookout for volunteer opportunities for our employees and encourage organizations in need of volunteer labour to contact us at volunteer@farrow.com.

Here are some of the highlights of our community-related activities:
Habitat for Humanity
Habitat for Humanity is an organization that helps build decent, affordable housing for low-income families. Our Chairman, Rick Farrow, sat on the organization’s national board and is a past-president of the local Windsor chapter. Over the years, we have sponsored several home builds, including the first ever joint U.S.-Canadian Jimmy Carter build in Detroit-Windsor.

Employee Volunteer Program
Our Volunteer Program was introduced as a part of our 90th Anniversary celebrations in 2001, and has been going strong ever since! Our employees know that when they participate in our volunteerism program, their lives and the lives of those around them are enriched. Our employees are granted up to two paid days off per year to participate in approved volunteer activities.

United Way Campaign
We have run a national United Way Campaign since 1995. Our employees have pledged thousands of dollars over the years and have participated in a variety of fundraising and awareness-raising events.

Days of Caring
Day of Caring is a partnership between United Way, community agencies and employee groups wanting to provide a ‘hands-on’ day where employees complete various projects for charitable or non-profit organizations. Employees from our Toronto, Windsor, Edmonton and Ayr Regional Centres participated in our first annual Day of Caring in 2010 and are looking forward to participating again next year.

Huntley J. Farrow Memorial Scholarship
Huntley J. Farrow, son of the founder of Russell A. Farrow Limited, was a long-time supporter of the University of Windsor and St. Clair College. Early on in his business and political career, he recognized that post-secondary education was the best way of ensuring a prosperous and productive future for his employees, their families and the community as a whole. In support of this philosophy, the annual Huntley Farrow Memorial Scholarship was inaugurated.

Community Sponsorship and Donations
We are active in supporting amateur sports including women and men’s hockey, baseball, and the AKO organization in Windsor. We support the March of Dimes and the Rotary charities annually.
