World Trade Organization [WTO} Issues...You win some, you lose some
Canadian Food Inspection Agency

Due to a restructuring of the joint Canada Customs and Revenue Agency (CCRA) and Canadian Food Inspection Agency’s (CFIA) data system, fees applicable under the Processed Product Fee Order have not been collected since April 1, 1999. In order to facilitate the payment of these fees, CFIA has prepared a billing document that summarizes those transactions subject to the Order for the period of April 1, 1999 to March 21, 2000. Included in the document will be the Customs transaction number, release date, and exporter name. Importers will be allowed 90 days from their statement date in which to pay before interest charges apply. Should you have additional questions concerning your summarized statement, you can contact the CFIA Accounts Receivable Centre at:

P.O. Box 6199 Moncton, NB E1C 8R2 Phone: 888-677-2342

CFIA is also proposing new regulations concerning grades and standards for food products. For additional information, please visit their website at: www.cfia-acia.agr.ca. Once there you can access the information by going into their What’s New feature and choosing the August 23 item on Regulatory Amendments.
