Canada Says 'No' To Asian Beetles.

New Treatments for Wood Crating to Start January 4, 1999!
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency has signed a regulatory directive requiring heat or chemical treatment of all solid wood cargo crating from China (including Hong Kong) as of Jan. 4, 1999. These urgent new measures are to reduce the risk of Asian long-horned beetles entering Canada. All of the beetles found in Canadian port cities and inland warehouses recently have been traced to wood cargo crating from China.
About the measures

  • Heat or chemical treatment of crating will kill Asian long-horned beetles and other destructive foreign insects living inside solid wood crating. Crating includes solid wood boxes, pallets, support timbers, blocking and spools.
  • All shipments containing solid wood crating must be accompanied by an official certificate from Chinese authorities

Yes, Fort Erie, there is a Santa Claus!

"He exists as certainly as love and generosity and devotion exists, and you know that they abound and give to your life its highest beauty and joy!" In 1897 when Francis Church wrote these worYes, Fort Erie, there is a Santa Claus.ds he was explaining to an eight-year-old girl the philosophy of hope and love. At Russell A. Farrow Limited we have the privilege of having such ideology at the helm. It does not matter if you believe in Santa Claus. What does matter is that you trust in the generosity and devotion of others.
Joy Russell with Habitat for Humanity Niagara feels Rick Farrow, C.E.O of Russell A. Farrow Limited exemplifies such beliefs. When his office in Fort Erie relocated to a new Customs complex he did not sell his Princess Street office building instead he gave the building to Habitat for Humanity Niagara. Joy describes Rick as a warm and generous man who is an inspiration to us all.
Rick, who serves as president of the Windsor chapter of
Habitat, explains his involve-ment with the charity. "The fact that you are able to work side-by-side with the people you are helping is very rewarding. At Russell A. Farrow Limited, we believe it is important to give back to the communities where we do business," says Rick. "Participation with Habitat allows us to do this in a very tangible way that benefits everyone."
During this Holiday Season "Santa" and his "elves" wish to extend our sincerest Seasons Greetings!

Year 2000 Compliance Policy Statement

Russell A. Farrow Limited is well aware of the issues related to the Year 2000, and have made this challenge a corporate priority. We are working very hard to ensure that all of our systems, equipment and processes are "Year 2000 Compliant."
Russell A. Farrow Limited utilizes a wide spectrum of software applications within its operations. Our own development staff designed many of these applications. We have conducted a thorough analysis of these systems, and have devised a Y2K action plan, providing for their upgrade or replacement, as appropriate. In addition, we have undertaken
a survey of all our essential vendors to ensure their
compliance.
We have dedicated the necessary resources, with the objective of completing all phases of our action plan by early 1999. We are currently on target to meet this goal.
