POSITION: EDI Specialist
LOCATION: Windsor
POSITION SUMMARY:
This is a full time position which requires after hours support. The EDI Specialist is responsible for providing direction, development and support of the Electronic Data Interchange environment at Russell A. Farrow Limited and related divisions.
He/she will lead various EDI projects by collaborating with vendors, customers and RAF’s Operations and IT team members to design and develop EDI solutions to support business strategies, and to ensure proper system integration and operation.
The EDI Specialist will possess a strong working knowledge and technical expertise in EDI concepts and tools which, combined with related project management and business aptitude, will result in best-in-class EDI solutions.
DUTIES:
- Test, implement, and maintain all EDI transactions and file problems
- Develop and maintain trading partner definitions to include relevant translation objects utilizing EDI translation software tools
- Handle communications with trading partners for EDI transaction set-up and ongoing maintenance
- Coordinate between trading partners and networks to ensure mapping compliance
- Develop new business opportunities utilizing EDI
- Resolve technical mapping variations or gaps
- Troubleshoot issues in production environment
- Develop guidelines, checklists, procedures and training documentation
- Communicate at the appropriate level with team members, management and end users
- Interact with clients and outside vendors/consultants in a professional and knowledgeable manner
- Monitor the daily processing of EDI transactions
REQUIRED SKILLS:
- University or College Diploma in Computer Science, or relevant work experience required
- Minimum 3 years experience in EDI development and support
- Extensive knowledge of and experience mapping and supporting EDI ANSI X12 and EDIFACT standards, as well as XML and flat file schemas
- Working knowledge of AS2, FTP/SFTP protocols and Value Added Networks
- Set up and management of trading partner profiles
- EDI operations support experience
- Problem solving in time sensitive, pressure situations
- Process improvement development and implementation
- Analytical skills with ability to critically evaluate data from multiple sources
- Support of EDI related systems in a 24X7 environment
- Effective interaction with business partners and RAF personnel in both business and technical terms
- Ability to maintain confidentiality – EDI may involve the use of confidential data
- Experience with commercial EDI software tools, preferably Websphere Partner Gateway (WPG)
- Working knowledge of UNIX, LINUX or OS/400 operating systems

In the role of Chief Information Officer, you will be accountable for directing the information and data integrity of the corporation and its groups for all information technology functions. This includes all data centres, technical services centres, help desks, communication networks (data), computer program development and systems operations. DUTIES:
- Partner with business unit leaders to develop and execute the strategic technology plan for the organization within the context of company goals and objectives.
- Partner with business leaders to establish future projects that maximize the use of IT resources. Implement IT governance process to plan and report on the IT direction, projects and operational standards on an on-going basis.
- Ensure strategic alignment between operations, IT and customer needs.
- Implement transparent project management process to facilitate management and communication regarding ongoing projects.
- Conduct resource planning to ensure availability of IT resources to meet objectives.
- Perform all required supervisory leadership functions including recruiting, mentoring and performance appraisals.
- Manage multiple vendor relationships within an iSeries (AS400) environment.
- Drive the evaluation and implementation of new technologies such as OCR, EDI/WPG, data and imaging warehousing.
- Working throughout all levels of the organization to ensure high value solutions are planned and executed.
- Develop, track and control the IT annual operating and capital budgets.
- Identify opportunities for the appropriate and cost effective investment of financial resources, including staffing, sourcing and in house development.
- Communize IT systems across all business units. Make enterprise’s IT systems customer friendly and a point of sale compared to its competitors.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS:
- Bachelors Degree in Information Systems, Engineering or related area from an accredited institution. Master’s Degree preferred.
- 10+ years of managerial experience and 10+ years of technical IT experience.
- Demonstrated experience with IT systems and management at a senior level with a sequence of increasing responsibilities in large and diverse business setting. Experience within customs brokerage, logistics and freight forwarding preferred.
- Excellent project management skills: experience in organizing, planning and executing multiple simultaneous large scale projects from vision through implementation, involving internal staff, contractors and vendors; ability to analyze project needs and determine resources needed to meet objectives.
- Leadership of IT functions thru the M&A process.
- Effective relationship management skills and ability to influence key decision makers.
- Demonstrated ability to translate technical language to lay audiences and link and apply complex technologies to business strategies.
- Be a high integrity, team player that motivates and educates other team members.
- Service minded, data driven and hands on executive. Relate to all levels of the user community, including customer.
