POSITION: Regional Manager - Windsor Operations
LOCATION: Windsor, ON

POSITION SUMMARY:

Reporting to Director of Canadian Brokerage Operations the Regional Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of Windsor Regional Centre Operations, and the performance of department managers, team leaders, supervisors and their respective staff.

He/she will promote and maintain a high level of employee competence, morale, service excellence and adherence to corporate policies and procedures.

He/she will be assisting the Director of Canadian Brokerage Operations in the establishment, adoption, implementation, acceptance and maintenance of nationally standardized Canadian brokerage operations practices and procedures.

DUTIES:

  • Interaction with and maintenance of good working relationships with all managers and their subordinates within the Windsor region.
  • Responsible for performance oversight, evaluation and appraisal, education, professional skills, development skills and personal growth.
  • Maintenance of data bases; securing NCR’s, maintaining currency with all relevant legislative and regulatory requirements, amendments, etc.
  • Interacting with executives, brokerage staff outside the region, peer management group, IT, Finance and other departments.
  • Resolving and dealing with client service issues and offering advice as needed.
  • Ensuring maintenance in good order of real and other property and assets of the company.
  • Researching current events within the industry, legislation and regulations relative to the carrying out of day to day business.
  • Assisting subordinate managers, supervisors, team leaders and their staff when necessary
  • Attending to other miscellaneous tasks

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • College Diploma in a business related field or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of ten years experience in the custom brokerage industry
  • Minimum ten years of management experience
  • Must be CCS certified or have equivalent brokerage-specific training
  • Exceptional problem solving skills and able to work under pressure
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge of personal computers and related software

POSITION SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Director of Sales, this confident, results oriented team player will be able to sell our services in a specific territory by utilizing superior communication skills and their extensive knowledge of the logistics industry.

DUTIES:

  • Contacting potential clients by means of cold calls, internal referrals / leads and recommendations from present clients.
  • Meeting with potential clients on a daily basis to describe our services and to obtain the necessary information to prepare a business proposal.
  • Making formal sales presentation to potential clients.
  • Work as an intermediary between the client and all relevant departments to ensure that the necessary information has been gathered and relayed.

  • Analyzing documents to determine applicable tariff, duty and tax rate
  • Contacting clients to obtain additional information for proper tariff classification
  • A variety of other duties as assigned

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Secondary school education or equivalent experience
  • CCS designation required
  • Minimum of three years customs brokerage experience
  • Minimum two years rating experience
  • Knowledge of Customs Tariff & explanatory notes
  • Good organization and communication skills
  • Excellent judgement skills

Working Monday to Friday from 6pm-2am, the successful candidate is primarily responsible for receiving and checking documents and preparing ACROSS releases for electronic submission to Revenue Canada.
