Presidential Executive Order - Hong Kong
July 16, 2020
US President Donald Trump has signed an order to end preferential economic treatment for Hong Kong.
As a result of the most recent Executive order from President Trump, there will be significant changes with the handling of imports and exports from Hong Kong. Hong Kong will no longer be granted preferential status and it will be considered as origin China subject to the existing 301 duties.
In regards to exports, there will be limitations to sensitive materials previously allowed to be exported to Hong Kong. Exports will now be subject to the restraints in the same fashion as what is applied to exports to China.
